Several objects leaving trails of smoke were observed in the sky over the Bender area during the first half of October 1, according to images shared with the Zona de Securitate news outlet.
The images were reportedly taken by people near the Tighina Fortress.
According to the publication, the objects were believed to be pyrotechnic and appeared during military exercises conducted by the Transnistrian region’s paramilitary structures at a training ground near the local airfield.
The source reported that the de facto authorities in Tiraspol had not announced the exercises in advance.
The incident drew public attention amid several reported violations of Moldova’s airspace in recent days, including in the Transnistrian region.
On September 30, Moldova’s Ministry of Defence reported several unauthorized incursions into the country’s airspace amid large-scale Russian attacks against Ukraine.
On October 1, Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that Russia’s ambassador-designate to Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, had been summoned and handed a protest note over the reported airspace violations.
