The Moldovan Parliament is hosting the exhibition “The Art of Being”, organized as part of Down Syndrome Awareness Month. The exhibition highlights the stories and individuality of six people with Down syndrome.

The six portraits combine photography with illustrations created by artist Cristina Frei. Each illustration was developed following conversations with the person featured, incorporating elements that reflect their identity, including their passions, preferences, favorite colors, gestures and personality traits.

The exhibition aims to encourage people to look beyond a diagnosis and focus on what makes each individual unique — their personality, interests, sense of humor and their own way of being.

Through the initiative, organizers seek to open a dialogue about acceptance, representation and the participation of people with Down syndrome in society.

At Parliament, the exhibition is displayed in the second-floor lobby. Throughout October, it will also be presented at other locations across Chisinau as part of a Down Syndrome awareness campaign launched by the NGO “Prietena Mea.”
