Moldova will denounce another agreement within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The agreement concerns the return of cultural and historical property to its countries of origin and was signed in Minsk on February 14, 1992.
The draft decision was prepared by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Cabinet of Ministers is expected to approve it at a meeting scheduled for October 21.
Following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the Moldovan Government conducted an audit of agreements concluded within the CIS and denounced several international documents. The authorities stated that their provisions were outdated and no longer effective.
Moldova has also denounced the agreement establishing the CIS. As a result, the Republic of Moldova is expected to officially withdraw from the organisation in 2027.
