Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held talks with the permanent representatives to the OSCE of France, Germany, and Poland about the situation in the Transnistrian region. The diplomats are on a working visit to the Republic of Moldova in the Weimar format, according to a Government statement.

The officials discussed developments in the dialogue within the conflict settlement platforms, the situation in the region, and the measures taken by the authorities to address issues affecting residents on both banks of the Dniester River.

Chiveri presented progress in gradual reintegration policies, including the gradual integration of economic operators from the eastern districts into a unified fiscal and customs framework. He also spoke about the Convergence Fund, a support mechanism for public services provided to citizens residing in the Transnistrian region.

The human rights situation in the region was another topic of discussion. Abuses were reported, including “restrictions on students’ right to education in Romanian-language schools,” according to the Government statement.

“The ambassadors of the three countries reaffirmed their firm support for a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognised borders,” the statement said.
