Former Chisinau Deputy Mayor Irina Gutnic is joining the National Liberal Platform, a political project bringing together the PNL, LOC, and CUB parties. Gutnic made the announcement on the morning of October 26 in front of Chișinău City Hall, alongside LOC leader Alexandru Bujorean.
Irina Gutnic will coordinate the partnership between the three political formations, civil society, local public administration, and public figures. Another stated objective is to strengthen pro-European forces in the Republic of Moldova.
“It is a great honour for me, but also a responsibility (…) The political class needs a reset, a new beginning,” Gutnic said.
For now, Irina Gutnic has not confirmed whether she will run for mayor of Chisinau in the 2027 elections. She said all decisions would be announced at a later date.
According to the announced plan, the participating parties will hold their internal congresses on November 29. Subsequently, at the beginning of 2027, the congress of the unified political formation will take place, during which the election campaign is expected to be launched and the candidate for Chisinau City Hall announced.
Irina Gutnic officially left the MAN Party (National Alternative Movement), led by Ion Ceban, in May 2026. Her departure came after the mayor of the capital, Ion Ceban, dismissed her from her position as deputy mayor. Shortly thereafter, she also stepped down as head of the MAN Chisinau regional organization.
Gutnic challenged the dismissal decision in the Chisinau Court of Appeals, and the court upheld her appeal, finding “serious and reasonable suspicions” regarding the legality of her dismissal, which was carried out by a decision signed by the capital’s mayor, Ion Ceban, on May 11, 2026.
Shortly after the court’s decision, on October 19, 2026, Irina Gutnic’s term as deputy mayor expired, and the city administration did not extend it.
