Our Party to Propose Parliamentary Inquiry Into Cyberattacks on Government Systems

The Our Party parliamentary faction will register a draft resolution on Thursday, October 29, proposing the establishment of a parliamentary inquiry commission to investigate recent cybersecurity incidents, establish the circumstances in which they occurred, and identify those responsible.

The announcement was made by Our Party MPs Alexandr Berlinschii and Elena Gritco.

“Cybersecurity and data integrity are extremely important for the Republic of Moldova. What has happened in recent days is serious and requires clarification. We need to understand what happened, what lessons have been learned, and who is responsible,” Alexandr Berlinschii said.

MP Elena Grițco added that the Our Party faction would propose that Parliament establish an inquiry commission to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

“The commission will have to establish what happened, who is at fault, and who bears responsibility for this situation. Citizens are demanding transparency from the state, and we, as MPs, will stand by them,” Elena Grițco said.

The initiative follows cyberattacks on government systems that resulted in the extraction of personal data linked to approximately 750,000 people. The information targeted includes identification details, family information, pension and social benefit records, driving licence data, and financial information.
