Moldova maintains friendly relations with all countries that stand for freedom, peace and security in the region. This is how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) commented on the words of the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, who said that NATO was preparing a training ground from Moldova for a geopolitical confrontation with Russia.
The ministry said that they do not allow such statements and interference in the internal affairs of the country.
“Moldova’s relations with international organizations, including NATO, are a sovereign and independent decision of our country. Neutrality does not mean isolation. The Moldovan authorities are developing partnerships with organizations and states to preserve the peace and security of the country. We remind you that Moldova began to cooperate with NATO in 1992. Cooperation with this organization, including within the framework of the Partnership for Peace program, has brought and continues to bring real benefits not only to our country, but also to regional security”.
Recall, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that various partnership formats for deepening Moldova’s interaction with NATO serve as a tool for manipulating. According to her, this looks “especially cynical against the backdrop of the situation in Ukraine, which was largely provoked by the irresponsible policy of expanding the alliance.”
