Energocom marked a first on Moldova’s electricity market by launching the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) of the Moldova Electricity Market Operator (OPEM). On 10 December 2025, the company carried out its first transaction on the new platform, symbolically purchasing 1 MWh.

According to the press release, the test verifies the operability and functionality of the new market and assesses how it can diversify and increase the transparency of electricity procurement mechanisms.

Energocom emphasizes that this operation marks the beginning of a new chapter for the energy sector. The company states that the DAM represents an essential step in developing a competitive system aligned with European standards.

Its operation ensures transparent price formation based on supply and demand and gives market participants more opportunities to optimize and efficiently manage their energy portfolios. Energocom also notes that the DAM is not only a technical reform but also a strategic one: it strengthens the country’s energy security, stimulates investment in generation and infrastructure, and paves the way for deeper integration of the Republic of Moldova into European energy markets.

In its message, the company reaffirms its commitment to supporting the transition toward a modern and competitive sector: Energocom remains committed to developing a functional, competitive, and sustainable market that brings benefits to consumers and the entire energy sector.

The cost of electricity purchases for the Republic of Moldova increased in November 2025, according to data published by S.A. Energocom. The company purchased approximately 397.6 thousand MWh of electricity at a weighted average price of 134.70 euros/MWh, up from 132.44 euros/MWh in the previous period.
