A Maine Coon cat named Zeus has become an online sensation thanks to his impressive size. Weighing 13 kilograms and measuring 130 centimeters in length, he’s just 30 centimeters short of matching the height of his owner, Daniela Ermolaeva, an IT specialist, according to CanCan.md.
Daniela’s husband, Liviu, gave her Zeus as a gift, knowing she had always been fascinated by Maine Coons. Even as a kitten, Zeus was oversized than the couple’s eight-year-old cat.
After just one year, Zeus reached 10 kilograms and gained about one kilogram early. Now, at four years old, he significantly exceeds the typical size for Maine Coons, which usually weigh between 4.8 and 8.2 kilograms and measure up to 120 centimeters, including the tail. Standing next to Daniela, who is 160 centimeters tall, Zeus looks nearly her size.

Despite his intimidating size, Daniela describes Zeus as a “gentle giant.” He’s calm, friendly, and enjoys being around people. He knows a few tricks like offering his paw, waving, and pressing buttons for treats — although, as Daniela admits, his attention span lasts about 10 seconds before he demands food and affection.
To match his size, Zeus requires special care. Daily, he eats about 500 grams of food, including 250 grams of raw beef, premium dry food, and around 50 grams of snacks. His luxurious, thick fur also needs regular grooming to prevent matting. Daniela says maintaining Zeus costs three times more than caring for a regular cat, covering food, grooming, toys, and veterinary care.
Veterinarians estimate that Zeus will finish growing at around age five and will likely reach a final weight of about 14 kilograms.
