Greco-Roman style wrestler Vasile Zabica has won a bronze medal at the European Wrestling Championships for athletes under 23. The event takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, in the small final of the up to 72 kg category, the student of the Republican Sports High School defeated the Italian Giovanni Alessio, 5-4.
“This is the third medal won so far by the national wrestling team at the European U-23 competition in Baku in the Greco-Roman competition, after Vitalie Eriomenco (63 kg), who won the silver medal, and Alexandrin Gutu (77 kg), who won the bronze medal. The Republic of Moldova still has a winning chance of at least two bronze medals at the European U-23 Championships. Mihaela Samoil (55 kg) and Luciana Beda (68 kg) will compete in the small finals in their weight categories,” MER said.
