A Romanian delegation visits the Ministry of Defense in Chisinau. What did they discuss with Minister Nosatii?

A delegation of Romania’s Ministry of National Defense, led by State Secretary Sorin-Dan Moldovan, paid an official visit on Thursday, January 15, to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova, where it held talks with Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii.

During the meeting, the officials discussed current regional and international security challenges, the experience of both countries in managing them, democratic reforms, and the Republic of Moldova’s European integration path, as well as Romania’s support in this process. The sides also reviewed the results of bilateral military cooperation and outlined priorities for the year ahead.

Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii expressed appreciation for Romania’s assistance in modernizing Moldova’s defense capabilities, including support in drafting policy documents, providing training opportunities, conducting joint military exercises, and facilitating the participation of military personnel from both countries in international peacekeeping missions. He also thanked Romania for its consistent support at the international level for Moldova’s objectives and commitments, including in the defense sector.

The agenda also included discussions on strategic communication and countering hybrid threats in the current security environment, as well as the measures taken by both defense institutions in this area. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reiterated the importance of strengthening institutional cooperation and exchanging expertise to enhance resilience and national security.

As part of the visit, the Romanian delegation also met with State Secretary Ghenadie Cojocaru. According to the Ministry of Defense, the talks focused on progress in implementing Romanian assistance projects for the transformation of the National Army, as well as the need to coordinate and continue joint activities within the framework of the Moldovan-Romanian joint commission.
