The Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Ludmila Catlabuga, assured that authorities will closely monitor the evolution of agri-food product prices to prevent unjustified increases. She also noted that analyses indicate prices could rise between 3.35% and 7%, depending on the category, with some products potentially increasing by up to around 10%.

“Of course, everything involved in the process ultimately shapes price formation, but we are working to notify the authorities responsible for monitoring and setting retail prices,” the minister said.

During the program “Punctul pe Azi” on TVR Moldova, Ludmila Catlabuga explained that the entire production and supply chain—from agricultural inputs to the final product on store shelves—influences prices and can drive increases.

“We have the Competition Council of Moldova, and it has a lot of work to do in this area. We have alerted the responsible agencies so they can monitor price formation and prevent unjustified increases,” she added.

The official emphasized that state institutions must oversee how prices are formed and intervene when increases are unjustified.

“Our task is to closely monitor how these prices form and to prevent unjustified increases,” the minister said.

She also called on institutions and stakeholders in the sector to act in solidarity and cooperate in order to overcome the difficult period and stabilize the agri-food market.
