Ambassador Daniela Morari Showcases Moldovan Art at EEAS: “Moldovan Voices” Exhibition Highlights Creativity Amid Conflict

Daniela Morari, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, announced the launch of the first Moldovan art exhibition hosted by the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels. Titled “Moldovan Voices: Arts Over Turbulent Times,” the exhibition runs for nearly a month and features works by two of Moldova’s rising artists, Valeria Duca and Nadya Izosimova.

In a statement, Ambassador Morari expressed pride in the cultural milestone:

“I am truly excited to announce the first Moldovan art exhibition hosted, for almost a month, by the European External Action Service.”

The exhibition presents two compelling artistic journeys that showcase Moldova’s strength and creativity amid ongoing regional geopolitical challenges.

Valeria Duca’s Testimony of War and Return

One section, FEBRUARY 2022 – ECHOES by Valeria Duca, marks three years since Ukraine’s invasion. Her works reveal the emotional weight of war and displacement drawn from her journey.

“At the heart of the exhibition is the artist’s journey,” Morari highlighted. Based in Oslo, Duca returned to Moldova in February 2024 to volunteer with Ukrainian refugees, offering firsthand testimony of the war’s impact on civilians.

Nadya Izosimova’s Reflection on Identity and Tradition

The second section, LIGHT WILL BRING ME HOME by Nadya Izosimova, blends painting, graphics, and embroidery in a poetic exploration of memory, folklore, and spirituality.

“Through folkloric and naive religious motifs, as well as folk and street art, Nadya reinterprets tradition, transforming it into a means of speaking about the present,” said Morari.

The ambassador extended an invitation to all who work at or visit the EEAS to view the exhibition:

“Grateful to the EEAS for such a great opportunity to share with people from all around the world the Moldovan culture.”

The exhibit marks a cultural achievement for Moldova on the EU stage and underscores the power of art as a form of dialogue, reflection, and resilience in times of crisis.
