Ambassador Victor Moraru re-elected for new term as inspector in UN Joint Inspection Unit

The United Nations Joint Inspection Unit (JIU) has re-elected Ambassador Victor Moraru for a new term as an inspector.

The Foreign Ministry (MFA) noted that the international community’s support for Moraru reflects its high regard for his experience and expertise, recognizing the Republic of Moldova’s strong candidate.

“This achievement reaffirms our country’s commitment to improving the managerial, administrative, and operational performance of the UN system and its specialized agencies,” the MFA stated.

Moldova, Bulgaria, and Slovakia competed for the vacant seat allocated to the Eastern European Group in the JIU. Victor Moraru received 107 votes from the 185 participating countries.

The JIU includes 11 inspectors appointed by the General Assembly, following the principle of equitable geographical distribution.
