Bees Airlines’ CEO, Victor Antohe, previously cited “low passenger demand” as the reason for route cancellations. However, the airline has yet to release an official explanation for its complete market exit. Financial struggles are evident, with reports of unpaid salaries, debts to other airlines like Dan Air, unpaid airport fees in Romania, and a recent fine imposed by ANPC, according to boardingpass.ro.
Thousands of passengers with booked tickets now need to find alternative travel options. Many have complained about the inability to contact the airline for refunds. Under European legislation, affected passengers are entitled to full refunds. However, numerous negative reviews on social media indicate serious difficulties in dealing with Bees Airlines.
Operating with a single Airbus A320 (YR-BUZ), Bees Airlines attempted to compete in a highly competitive market. Yet, its strategy failed in less than six months. The airline’s future remains uncertain amid insolvency requests and ongoing lawsuits.
Passengers impacted by the cancellations are advised to contact the relevant authorities or use mediation platforms to claim their refunds and assert their rights.
