The Republic of Moldova will open a second Consulate General in Sacramento, California, to primarily serve Moldovan citizens residing in the western United States.
The consulate will provide essential services such as issuing and authenticating documents, assisting in emergencies, and offering other key consular support. It will also strengthen cultural and economic ties between Moldovan communities in the U.S. and their homeland.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision follows Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi’s recent visit to the United States and discussions with State Department officials, during which U.S. authorities approved the establishment of the consulate in Sacramento.
