The General Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) confirmed that they are not investigating any case related to the alleged fraud involving the “Tux” trading platform, IPN reports.
Online sources reported that several citizens invested their savings through this platform, which later proved to be a classic pyramid scheme. On Tuesday evening, users in the Republic of Moldova received an alarming message in the app: they had to deposit 100 USDT within 24 hours to keep their accounts active, or the system would permanently block access. A countdown timer in the app increased psychological pressure.
The platform claimed that the payment was required to comply with international KYC standards, but in reality, the so-called “compliance fees” had no legal basis. The organizers used this tactic to extract more money from users after the scheme had already started to collapse. Many users later lost access to their accounts and could not recover their funds.
No official complaints, no police reaction
Violina Moraru, spokesperson for the General Prosecutor’s Office, stated that the institution has not received any official complaints about the case. Emil Gaitur, spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, also confirmed that prosecutors have not opened any criminal investigations related to Tux.
The General Inspectorate of Police has not released an official statement. Police Chief Viorel Cernauteanu and the institution’s communication officers have not responded to calls or messages.
The TUX pyramid began to collapse after users in Moldova received, on the evening of October 7 at 20:00, a message demanding that they deposit 100 USDT within 24 hours to maintain account access. The system threatened to permanently block non-compliant accounts, while a countdown timer displayed in the app heightened the pressure.
Antonina Samoil, a former employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and one of the individuals mentioned in online discussions about the TUX platform, publicly denied any involvement in managing or administering the project.
