Ludmila Catlabuga stated that agricultural products in the Republic of Moldova could become more expensive in the coming period due to rising production costs, bani.md reports.

She emphasized that, although there are clear signals of price increases, authorities do not yet have a detailed analysis indicating the exact scale and timing of these increases.

“Price increases are expected, but today the Ministry of Economy has not presented a more detailed analysis. As for the timing of these increases, I cannot provide estimates,” the minister said.

At the same time, she explained that pressure on prices mainly comes from the rising costs of agricultural inputs, which are already affecting the sector and will inevitably influence the final price of products.

“Input costs are already being felt and, certainly, this will also be reflected in the final price of agricultural products,” Catlabuga added, noting that the increases have been driven by rising fuel prices.

Economists warn that food prices could rise by more than 10%.
