There is currently no information indicating that Moldovan citizens were among the victims of the explosion in Switzerland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chisinau announced, adding that it continues to closely monitor the situation.

According to Moldovan diplomats, the process of identifying victims is still ongoing. At the same time, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova has not received any requests for consular assistance.

“So far, there is no data confirming that citizens of the Republic of Moldova are among the dead or injured following the explosion that occurred at the Crans-Montana resort,” the ministry said in a statement.

At least 40 people were killed and around 100 others were injured in a fire that broke out in the early hours of New Year’s Day at a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana.

Swiss authorities mobilized ten helicopters and 40 ambulances to carry out rescue operations.
