Athletes Oleg Crețul and Ion Basoc won bronze medals at the World Paralympic Judo Games

Athletes Oleg Crețul and Ion Basoc won bronze medals at the World Paralympic Judo Games in Birmingham, UK.

The master emeritus of the sport, Oleg Crețul, competed in the weight category up to 90 kg, managing to beat a US competitor in the preliminary bouts, after which – in a quarterfinal – an athlete from Uzbekistan. In the final, our athlete lost to the representative of Brazil. In the fight for the bronze medal, Oleg Crețul defeated the representative of Kazakhstan.

Ion Basoc, an international master of the sport and Oleg Crețul’s pupil competed in the +90 kg weight category. In the preliminary bouts, the athlete defeated a competitor from Mexico, and in the second bout – he succumbed to the world leader from Brazil. Later, in the requalifications, Ion Basoc defeated the representative of France, and in the fight for the bronze medal, he won against an athlete from China. Thus, Ion Basoc became, for the first time, a bronze medallist at this competition.
