Over 55,000 residents of the Republic of Moldova will gain access to clean and safe drinking water after authorities install BOSAQ water kiosk systems in 85 localities. To implement this project, the Kingdom of Belgium will provide our country with a €12 million loan.
Parliament approved the ratification of the Loan Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium in its first reading to carry out the “Decentralized Drinking Water Supply” Project.
“BOSAQ kiosks are potable water treatment installations with a production capacity of 500 liters per hour. They comply with European Union standards and protect against contamination, ensuring safe drinking water,” a parliamentary press release states.

The borrower will repay the loan over 30 years, including a 10-year grace period during which they won’t pay any interest.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, one in five people living in rural areas lacks access to safe water and proper sanitation. Additionally, 10% of urban residents have no reliable access to clean drinking water.
