Minister Vladimir Bolea has sent letters to his counterparts in the 27 EU member states, the United States, Canada, Japan, and Norway, asking for support for Moldovan agriculture. Specifically, the official wants the establishment of a Development and Solidarity Fund.
Chisinau’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry made the statement in Brussels after holding several talks on EU-Moldova cooperation in the agricultural sector and support for farmers affected by disasters.
According to the official, the creation of the mechanism will represent a coordinated support action for Moldovan agriculture by the EU Member States, as well as a gesture of solidarity and partnership between the EU and Moldova.

The Ministry of Agriculture stated that Vladimir Bolea discussed the creation of the Fund during his meeting with European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski. The authority notes that this will respond to the challenges faced by Moldovan farmers affected by drought and climate change.
The Development and Solidarity Fund would support farmers financially, provide opportunities for infrastructure modernization, promote technological innovation, and increase resilience to extreme climatic conditions, which affect the productivity and stability of agriculture in our country.
