On Thursday, August 1, the Border Police suspended the employee detained and suspected of espionage for Russia. The institution’s representatives provided this information to realitatea.md.

“The employee was suspended from duty today. From the start of the criminal investigation, the Border Police have cooperated with the competent authorities, providing all necessary support for the investigation and facilitating access to information and resources,” said Raisa Novitchi, spokesperson for the Border Police.

On Thursday, August 1, representatives of the Parliament also announced that they had suspended the employee suspected of treason. Currently, they have not confirmed if the detained employee is Ion Creangă, Head of the Legal Department of the Parliament of Moldova.

Meanwhile, authorities will declare an employee of the Russian Embassy, who allegedly recruited the Parliament and Border Police employees accused of treason, persona non grata. The official must leave the territory of the Republic of Moldova within the next few days. Russian Ambassador Oleg Vasnetov announced this after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned him on August 1.
