Breaking: Veronica Dragalin Barred from Holding Public Office for Five Years

Veronica Dragalin, the former head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, is prohibited from serving as a prosecutor or holding any other public office for the next 5 years. The Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP) accepted the external evaluation commission’s report on her, and five Council members voted in favor of the decision.

Council member Mihail Sorbala announced that he filed a separate opinion, which the SCP will publish on its website.

Anyone has 15 days from the ruling to appeal it to the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ).

Earlier, Dragalin said she will defend her right to hold public office in national courts and, if necessary, before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
