The expansion and modernization of three major roads in Chisinau—Mircea cel Batran Boulevard, Industrial Street, and Mesager Street—are among Mayor Ion Ceban’s priorities for the coming years. In a press conference, the mayor stated his commitment to completing this long-awaited project for the city’s residents.
“I recently signed the Pre-financing Agreement with our development partners for an ambitious road infrastructure modernization project in the city. The project aims to improve roads that will help alleviate urban traffic, ensure connections to developing areas or those set for future development, and provide modern solutions for Moldova and Chisinau, meeting European and international quality standards required for the city.”
Ceban added, ” This long-awaited project for the municipality and the residents of Chisinau has a significant estimated value of at least 57 million euros. ”

Another project the municipality will implement is the construction of a solid waste recycling center, marking a national first.
“This year, the Chisinau City Hall and the Municipal Enterprise ‘Regia Autosalubritate’ signed the contract for building a new transfer station with a waste sorting line—a unique project at the national level. Recently, Chisinau City Hall has invested significantly, over 1 billion lei, into the waste management system, purchasing dozens of new specialized vehicles and thousands of waste containers while also starting the sorting and recycling of waste as early as January 2023. So far, the municipality has managed to recycle approximately 20,000 tons of waste,” the mayor stated.
Ion Ceban promises to focus on the suburbs of the capital in the coming years.
“We are investing in the suburbs by rehabilitating roads and access routes, constructing and repairing schools, kindergartens, and medical facilities. We are also creating new services and improving sports fields, playgrounds, and public spaces. Additionally, we are establishing and launching new public transport routes. In recent years, we have dedicated about 1 billion lei from the municipal budget to develop all suburbs equally,” the mayor stated.
Attracting foreign investments through development partners and European financial instruments is also on the agenda of the Chisinau City Hall.
“We have established credible collaborations, openings, and partnerships in various fields with cities and capitals, as well as with the leadership of some European countries, from which we adopt best practices and attract investments. We aim to increase the number of partnerships, the volume of investments, and the number of projects to continue making positive changes,” concluded Ion Ceban.
On Tuesday, November 5, Mayor Ion Ceban presented a report to the press after one year in office. He stated that he and his team have implemented nearly 40% of the electoral program for which the capital’s residents gave him their trust in the 2023 elections.
