In July, over 703,000 passengers traveled to and from Chisinau International Airport, marking a 45% increase compared to the same period last year. The Civil Aviation Authority recorded nearly 5,000 aircraft operations—comprising landings and takeoffs—which represents a 37% increase from July 2024, IPN reports.
Turkish cities Antalya and Istanbul remained the most popular destinations, attracting 156,000 and 59,000 passengers respectively. London followed with 35,000 travelers, and Heraklion welcomed 23,000. Notably, Heraklion saw a 40.3% growth in passenger traffic, while Bucharest registered the highest increase of 88.5%.

On Monday, August 4, Chisinau International Airport’s administration announced plans to expand the passenger terminal by 5,000 square meters. The project, estimated at 700 million lei, is scheduled for completion by the end of next year.
