Chisinau’s Ciocana Court extended the house arrest of Gagauzia Governor Evghenia Gutul by 30 days, IPN reports.
Authorities detained Gutul at Chisinau International Airport on the evening of March 25. She faces two criminal cases. In one, prosecutors accuse her of fraudulently managing campaign funds, illegal financing, and falsifying statements during the election for governor.
In the second case, law enforcement accuses Gutul and the secretary of the former Shor Party’s central office of helping finance the party and a candidate using money from an organized crime group.

On April 9, Chisinau’s Ciocana Court ordered Gutul’s release from detention and placed her under house arrest, a decision later upheld by the Court of Appeal – Central.
