Employees in Chisinau earned an average gross monthly salary of 19,834 lei in January–June 2026. Compared with the same period in 2025, the average salary increased by 1,647 lei, or 9.1%, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), BANI.MD reports.
The average salary in the capital was nearly 3,000 lei higher than the national average. During the first six months of the year, the average monthly salary nationwide stood at 16,895.7 lei, meaning that the figure for Chisinau was 17.3% higher.
The NBS statistics cover enterprises in the real sector with at least four employees, as well as budgetary institutions whose central offices are located in Chisinau.
