As of October 5, 2026, the Chisinau municipal authorities have 79 children officially registered as eligible for adoption, including 37 girls and 42 boys.
Of these, 32 children are part of sibling groups. The groups include two sets of four siblings, four groups of three siblings and seven groups of two siblings. Six children in the sibling groups have special needs.
Another 15 children are registered individually as eligible for adoption, while 16 children with special needs also have adoptable status.
According to municipal data, 17 children are already involved in adoption proceedings. Four are awaiting completion of the prospective adoptive parents’ documents, one is undergoing the national matching process, and one child has already been placed with the adoptive parents.
At the same time, six children are involved in court proceedings for national adoption, while one child is involved in court proceedings for international adoption.
The Chisinau City Hall stressed that every child needs a family environment where they can receive love, safety and support, describing adoption as “a new beginning” for a child.
