Contravention cases opened after xenophobic messages directed at Stoianoglo. The court will determine the punishment

 

Law enforcement officials have prepared reports after discriminatory messages targeted Alexandr Stoianoglo. The head of the National Police, Viorel Cernauteanu, provided the clarifications.

According to the official, authorities have documented two individuals. Authorities will submit the necessary documents to the court, and judges will determine the punishment that will be applied.

“We have two recorded materials. (…) According to Article 400 of the Contravention Code, authorities will submit the reports to the court. The Police have confirmed them, and the court will examine them,” stated the head of the General Police Inspectorate.

Cernauteanu mentioned that he does not know if Stoianoglo has filed any complaint. According to him, the reports are made by other individuals, not by the candidate.

At the same time, the president of the Central Electoral Commission stated on Wednesday that the institution she leads has not received any reports on the subject. According to her, as soon as they receive information about the incidents, CEC members will examine it and provide their comments on the matter.

We remind you that after the first round of the elections, discriminatory messages targeting Alexandr Stoianoglo appeared on the pages of some internet users with tens of thousands of followers on Facebook and TikTok. As a result, the Action and Solidarity Party team urged citizens to remain calm, stating that it would condemn any xenophobic attacks or incitement to interethnic hatred.

Meanwhile, Ion Chicu mentioned that he filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General’s Office. At the same time, the ”Farmers’ Force” Association noted on social media that it has reached out to law enforcement agencies in the Republic of Moldova following the xenophobic messages published on TikTok and Facebook, stating that it had previously been subjected to similar attacks.
