Former MP Vladimir Andronachi is under a 60 day travel ban with border notification after the Centru Court of Appeal rejected the extension of his preventive arrest, annulled judicial control, and ordered his release.
The Anti Corruption Prosecutor Office told IPN that the case prosecutor imposed the measure on February 3 to prevent evasion from criminal prosecution and to ensure the proper conduct of the proceedings.
The institution said it will analyze the reasoning of the Court of Appeal decision, noting that prosecutors submitted the request to extend preventive arrest within the legal deadline. However, a dispute emerged over how authorities calculated the 30 day period, which also included about seven days of prior detention.
After the ruling, the Prosecutors Inspection launched an ex officio review and started checks into possible disciplinary violations by the case prosecutor, Nicolae Busuioc. The court cited the failure to observe a mandatory procedural deadline when examining the request.
Authorities detained Vladimir Andronachi on September 2, 2025. He faces charges of fraud and money laundering on an especially large scale.
