A delegation from the Republic of Moldova is visiting Brussels to discuss Chapter 8, which addresses competition policy.
Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov is leading the delegation.
“We are in Brussels for the next three days. The first chapter we are discussing this year with colleagues from several state institutions is Chapter 8, which focuses on competition policy. Free competition fosters a strong economy, quality products, greater diversity, affordable prices for consumers, and a transparent, fair, and attractive business environment for investors,” Gherasimov stated.

On 25 June 2024, the Republic of Moldova began EU accession negotiations, officially launched at an intergovernmental conference in Luxembourg. Authorities are coordinating the bilateral screening stage, with negotiations scheduled to begin this year. Chisinau aims for the Republic of Moldova to join the EU by 2030.
