Moldova relies on Denmark’s support for its EU accession process as Denmark prepares to take over the EU Council Presidency on July 1. Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi reaffirmed this during a meeting with his Danish counterpart, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, according to IPN.
Popsoi emphasized the strong and trust-based relationship between Moldova and Denmark.
He highlighted Denmark’s consistent support, which helped strengthen Moldova’s resilience in the economic, energy, financial, and security sectors. He also noted that Denmark’s decision to open an embassy in Chisinau last year marked a significant step forward in deepening bilateral ties.
Popșoi underlined the significance of Denmark’s upcoming role in 2025 as coordinator of the Nordic-Baltic 8 (NB8) cooperation format. He pointed out that recent NB8 delegations’ visits to Moldova signaled firm support for the country’s European ambitions.
