Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi Bids Farewell to Italian Ambassador Lorenzo Tomassoni

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi held a farewell meeting with Italian Ambassador Lorenzo Tomassoni, who is concluding his mandate in Chisinau.

Minister Popsoi thanked the ambassador for strengthening Moldovan–Italian relations. He emphasized Italy’s support in advancing the Agreement on Social Security and opening the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development’s office in Moldova’s capital.

Both officials underscored the strong bilateral cooperation, particularly in supporting Moldova’s European integration efforts and managing recent regional crises.

A highlight of Ambassador Tomassoni’s mandate was the historic visit of President Sergio Mattarella to Moldova in June 2024—the first official visit by an Italian head of state to Chisinau.

Minister Popsoi concluded the meeting by wishing Ambassador Tomassoni continued success in his diplomatic career and expressed confidence that Moldovan–Italian relations will continue to grow and evolve dynamically.
