The former president of the Republic of Moldova and leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, published a message praising the political model of Viktor Orbán following his loss of power after 16 years in Hungary.

In his message, Dodon claimed that Orbán, despite holding “all the power in the state,” did not engage in practices he attributes to the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity in Moldova. He argued that Orbán did not suppress critical media, target opposition leaders through prosecutors, or pressure voters.

At the same time, Dodon praised Orbán for what he described as a dignified acknowledgment of defeat in the April 12 elections, without contesting the results or alleging fraud. In contrast, he accused the current leadership in Chișinău of “capturing the state” and governing in a dictatorial manner.

“I personally will continue to support the policies of Viktor Orbán, which prioritized the traditional family, demographic growth, the protection of Christian values, political sovereignty, economic pragmatism, anti-immigration measures, and effective adaptation to global challenges,” Dodon wrote.

Following the elections, the Tisza Party, led by Péter Magyar, won 138 seats in Parliament, while Fidesz, led by Viktor Orbán, together with KDNP, secured 55 seats.
