The opposition continues to knock on the Kremlin’s doors. Igor Dodon, Irina Vlah, and Vasile Tarlev revisited Moscow to secure assurances of support if our government changes. The socialist leader himself revealed this on social media.
Dodon reported that the Chisinau delegation met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak and discussed supplying gas to Moldova. He says this scenario could unfold “after a change of power following the upcoming parliamentary elections.”
“During our meeting with Aleksandr Novak, we confirmed our mutual readiness to resume the energy dialogue between Moldova and Russia as soon as a government form that will prioritize citizens’ interests over geopolitics. Resuming direct deliveries of Russian gas will lower tariffs, stabilize the economy, and secure Moldova’s energy future,” Dodon wrote.

So far, the opposition hasn’t explained how it plans to bring gas from Russia to Moldova amid international sanctions and Kyiv’s transit restrictions.
It isn’t the opposition’s first trip of this kind to Russia. Earlier, several pro-Russian Moldovan politicians attended the St. Petersburg Economic Forum and pressed Russian officials on gas supplies and Moldova’s upcoming elections.
