Prime Minister Dorin Recean urged the preparation of additional measures to support citizens and the business environment if the ANRE approves new energy tariffs.
“Minister Buzu, as soon as the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) decides on the new tariffs, immediately calculate and propose additional measures to assist citizens, ensuring we mitigate the impact of the increase. Identify the companies the government will support, focusing primarily on food companies and those whose competitiveness may suffer from higher electricity tariffs. We will support them in two ways: first, by partially compensating for the increase in expenses for a limited period of 3 to 6 months, and second, by subsidizing investments in energy efficiency to ensure these measures promote sustainability,” Recean stated.
Since December 16, the Republic of Moldova has been under a 60-day state of emergency due to potential risks of energy shortages.
