The drone that crashed near the village of Crocmaz also caused a vegetation fire, Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin said. According to the minister, the flames broke out following explosions that occurred on Ukrainian territory.

Misail-Nichitin also said that her ministry has finalized a concept outlining security measures to be implemented at Moldovan-Ukrainian border crossing points amid Russian attacks.

She noted that procedures at border crossings where joint controls are currently carried out on Ukrainian territory could potentially be moved to the Moldovan side of the border.

“There were several reports received by the General Inspectorate of Border Police from patrols in Tudora and Olanasti over the past night. (…) A section of land outside the village of Crocmaz was affected, specifically by a vegetation fire, following explosions that occurred on Ukrainian territory,” Misail-Nichitin said.

According to the Border Police, metal and plastic fragments were recovered from the area. They will be examined and subjected to forensic expertise to determine the type and origin of the crashed aircraft, as well as the circumstances surrounding the incident.
