A drone crashed Friday afternoon near Luncavita in Romania’s Tulcea County, causing an explosion and a fire, according to Romania’s Ministry of National Defence.
“The aerial target was not detected by the Defence Ministry’s radar surveillance systems, as it was flying at a very low altitude,” the ministry said.
A local resident captured footage of the drone flying over Rachelu village, part of Luncavita commune, and posted the images on social media, HotNews.ro reported.
No casualties or damage have been reported so far. The drone crashed in a wooded area. Firefighters said the fire was no longer visible and teams were searching for the exact crash site.
The authorities also deployed an IAR PUMA 330 SOCAT military helicopter to survey the area.
