Thirty-five years of the Republic of Moldova’s independence represent 35 years of hopes, choices, challenges and transformation – a period during which the country experienced historic moments that changed the lives and destinies of entire generations.
Today, this history is being examined through the eyes of two people from the same family, but from different generations. The father was directly involved in the early years of independent Moldova, while his son built his career in the state that his parents’ generation helped create.
Dumitru Tira Senior, journalist, writer and former spokesperson for Moldova’s first president, Mircea Snegur, and Dumitru Tira Junior, lawyer, former diplomat and media executive and founder of the Realitatea media group, will discuss the country’s journey since independence.
Two generations, two experiences and one country.
What has Moldova gained over these 35 years, and what has society lost?
What does the Republic of Moldova look like after 35 years of independence, and what kind of future do the country and its citizens deserve?
