Early alert on the gas market in Moldova: The Ministry of Energy is implementing preventive measures

The Ministry of Energy has started the procedure to declare an early alert on the natural gas sector, based on a proposal from the gas transport operator, LLC “Vestmoldtransgaz.” This decision follows a notification from the Ukrainian operator about the situation at the Sudja gas measuring station in Russia.

Today, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov gathered representatives from the energy sector to review reports from relevant institutions on the current situation, potential risks, and necessary measures for managing them. The data show that the conditions for declaring an early alert have been satisfied.

The Ministry of Energy will notify the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, which will convene, within 12 hours, a meeting of the Moldovan Commission for Exceptional Situations to review the Ministry’s proposal.

“Although there is currently no imminent risk of halting gas supplies to the left bank, it is essential to have adequate response time to manage any unforeseen situations. We need to be prepared for any scenario, especially given the ongoing military operations in the region,” said Minister Victor Parlicov.

According to the data provided by operators, natural gas deliveries to the Transnistrian region through Ukraine are continuing as usual. At the same time, there are sufficient gas volumes for the right bank of the Dniester, including security stocks and commercially contracted volumes by market operators.
