The Republic of Moldova added news presenter Ekaterina Andreeva of the Russian federal channel Pervyi Kanal and sports journalist Dmitri Guberniev to its sanctions list, aligning with European Union restrictive measures targeting several Russian public figures.

Authorities also placed rapper Roma Zhigan on the list, accusing him of glorifying the Russian leadership and the war. They sanctioned TV presenter Maria Sittel, who works for the channel Rossiya-1, as well.

The restrictions also target Pavel Zarubin, host of the “Direct Line” program with Vladimir Putin. Moldova further sanctioned ballet artist Sergei Polunin, accusing him of spreading propaganda and promoting the war.

Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi signed the order aligning Moldova with the European Union’s restrictions. The decision was published in the Official Gazette on March 17, 2026.
