Electoral Corruption Case: The National Anti-Corruption Center Has Imposed Fines Amounting to Around 5,000,000 Lei

Officers of the National Anti-Corruption Center (ACC) imposed fines totaling approximately 5,000,000 lei for passive electoral corruption.

According to a CNA statement, as of November 8, 2024, the center applied these fines based on protocols received from the Police regarding contraventions outlined in Article 47 Prim of the Contravention Code, which deals with “passive electoral corruption.”

Individuals found guilty of corrupting voters face fines ranging from 25,000 to 37,500 lei.

The ACC continues to review the protocols received and will take further action as necessary. It also clarified that those who commit the contravention can avoid liability if they self-report or actively assist in the investigation of electoral corruption.
