Despite the uncertainties, the Transnistrian region will continue to receive natural gas, and the rest of the Republic of Moldova will benefit from electricity, stated Energy Minister Victor Parlicov during the “Teritoria Svobodi” program on RLive. Parlicov warned, however, that prices might change and the main challenges will be financial, not technical, as reported by Bani.md.
”Physically, we will have both gas and electricity. However, prices will change. Beyond that, Gazprom’s deliberate decision to stop deliveries according to the contract means that the Russian Federation accepts the consequences of triggering a crisis in the Transnistrian region. The region’s payment capacity could be severely affected,” explained the minister.
Despite the uncertainty, Parlicov assured that the Republic of Moldova is prepared for any scenario. Chisinau will not obstruct the delivery of Russian gas to the left bank of the Dniester; however, the minister emphasized that the final decision lies with the Russian Federation.
