Between May and December 2025, Moldova’s state-owned energy company Energocom purchased 8.33 million MWh of natural gas, equivalent to about 782 million cubic meters, fully covering the country’s gas needs for the 2025–2026 gas year.
The gas year started on October 1, 2025, and will end on September 30, 2026. The purchased volumes cover current consumption, system balancing, peak demand, storage obligations, and the creation of a strategic security reserve.
In 2025, Energocom also fully used a 20 million euro grant from the European Union. With these funds, the company purchased about 26.5 million cubic meters of natural gas between February 1 and 10, in line with requests from Tiraspoltransgaz and a decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations.
Energocom carried out the transactions on gas exchanges in Romania and Bulgaria, in compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework.
