Energocom will not assume Moldovagaz’s Financial Deviations as it prepares to take over the country’s gas supply responsibilities. Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu made the statement following the recent decision by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) to withdraw Moldovagaz’s license for natural gas supply.
“The process is already underway, and in the coming period, the ANRE will designate the natural gas supplier for the left bank… Energocom will not take over the financial deviations of Moldovagaz,” Junghietu said.
On August 4, the ANRE officially revoked Moldovagaz’s supply license, citing the expiration of the license term and the company’s failure to comply with requirements for functional, decision-making, and legal separation from other activities in the energy sector.

As part of the transition, Energocom will assume control over the gas supply infrastructure and serve approximately 800,000 consumers across the country. The actual transfer of responsibilities will be on September 1.
The ANRE emphasized that the transition poses a significant challenge and has instructed both Moldovagaz and Energocom to implement all necessary organizational measures by the end of August. The goal is to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to final consumers beginning in September.
Due to the complex process of approving regulated prices for Energocom—which involves multiple stages, setting base costs, and calculating the value of fixed and intangible assets— the ANRE announced that Energocom will initially apply Moldovagaz’s current tariffs.
