The EU Accession Negotiations: Moldova Begins Talks on Media and Online Security Chapter

Moldova will begin discussions on information security and media activity as part of its negotiations for European Union accession. The talks will start in the coming days in Brussels.

Discussions will cover policies to enhance digitalization in public services and strengthen cybersecurity. Additionally, regulations will focus on media pluralism and combating disinformation.

“We are starting the analysis of the chapter group within Cluster 3: Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth. The legislation in this field regulates the information technology sector, electronic communications, and media services,” announced Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov.

Since the summer of 2024, the Moldovan government has been negotiating the country’s EU accession. Authorities in Chisinau aim for Moldova to become an EU member state by 2030.
