EU and G7 Ambassadors Invited to the Presidency for Talks on Judicial Reform and EU Accession

The ambassadors of European Union member states and G7 countries accredited in the Republic of Moldova convened at the Presidential Palace to discuss key issues with President Maia Sandu. The talks focused on the impact of the energy crisis, judicial reform, and Moldova’s path to EU membership.

President Sandu highlighted the main challenges facing Moldova, emphasizing that the energy problems caused by Russia aim to influence electoral processes, according to the Presidential Administration’s press service. She assured that efforts are being made to ensure energy security and expressed gratitude to international partners for their support.

Regarding judicial reform, Sandu stressed that it is not only a requirement for EU accession but also a clear expectation of citizens who demand fair, independent, and efficient justice.”

The president added that justice reforms, particularly the external evaluation of judges, are beginning to deliver results and must continue at an accelerated pace.”

Additionally, Sandu underscored the need to strengthen the institutional framework of anti-corruption bodies and to improve the legal framework for imposing harsher sanctions on those involved in political and electoral corruption. She noted that these measures are crucial for ensuring the integrity of parliamentary elections, as communicated by the Presidential Administration’s press team.
