European aid for Moldovan soldiers: The EU grants them 40 million euros for armored vehicles

The European Union is granting the National Army a new aid package of 40 million euros.
The financial resources are part of the 60 million euro support announced by the President of the EU Council, Antonio Costa, during his visit to Chisinau.

The Ministry of Defense representatives stated that the government will use these funds to purchase a batch of state-of-the-art armored vehicles for National Army units. Additionally, the authorities will acquire a command and control system to enhance air surveillance capabilities.

“The European Union continues to strongly support us in strengthening our defense capabilities. It demonstrates its commitment to the security and stability of the Republic of Moldova, as well as to the protection of our citizens. The substantial contribution of 137 million euros provided between 2021 and 2024 through the European Peace Facility, along with this additional 40 million euro package, is clear proof of the solidarity and consistent support from our partners. We are grateful for this substantial assistance, which strengthens our European path and guarantees a more prosperous and secure future,” stated Minister Anatolie Nosatii.

Since 2021, the EU has assisted Moldova in equipping the National Army with modern equipment for medical units and engineering corps through the European Peace Facility. It has also strengthened logistical, transport, communication, and IT capacities.
