Vice President of the European Commission Henna Virkkunen paid an official visit to Chisinau, where she held talks with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, and Minister of Economy Doina Nistor.
The discussions focused on Moldova’s progress in digital transformation, the reforms already implemented, and the next steps toward closer EU integration through technological advancement, according to the Ministry of Economy.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean emphasized that Moldova is strengthening its public administration by actively engaging civil society and the business sector to ensure continuous, measurable progress.

Deputy Prime Minister Doina Nistor stated that digital integration is one of the fastest and most secure paths for Moldova’s European alignment. She affirmed that Moldova is ready for this process and continues to prove it through its implemented systems and ongoing reforms.
“We reaffirm our commitment to maintain close cooperation with the Republic of Moldova, supporting its path toward the European Union. Digitalization and communications play a vital role in this journey and offer enormous benefits to both citizens and small and medium-sized enterprises,” said Henna Virkkunen.
During her visit, Virkkunen toured several innovation and tech hubs, including the Mediacor center at USM, the Artcor center at AMTAP, the Cybercor National Institute for Cybersecurity Innovation at UTM, and met with officials from Moldova’s Cybersecurity Agency, Electronic Governance Agency, National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service, and the Moldova Innovation Technology Park.
